Our Team, Vision and Mission
We’re a passionate group of local residents who believe that great villages deserve great pubs. Like many people in Polebrook, we enjoy a good pint, good company, and having a welcoming place where neighbours can gather, celebrate, support one another, and make lasting memories. Rather than stand by and risk losing this important part of our community, we have come together to create Polebrook Community Hub Charitable Community Benefit Society (CCBS).
Our vision is simple: to purchase The King’s Arms and secure its future as a thriving, community-owned hub at the heart of village life. We want it to remain a place where friendships are forged, local groups can meet, visitors are welcomed, and generations come together over a drink, a meal, or a community event, we also plan to add a community shop which will provide vital services for those less able to travel.
Our ambition extends beyond Polebrook. We hope this venture will become a shining example of how rural village pubs can be preserved through community ownership when traditional models are no longer viable. By demonstrating what can be achieved when local people take ownership of their future, we aim to inspire and support other villages facing the loss of their own cherished pubs and community spaces.
As a Community Benefit Society, any surplus generated will be reinvested into the pub, its facilities, and community activities, ensuring long-term benefits for local people rather than private profit.
Charitable donations will help us achieve this mission by contributing towards the purchase of the building, essential repairs, accessibility improvements, energy-efficiency projects, and the creation of welcoming spaces for community events and activities.
The lions share of the funding has been pledged by the village, in community shares, but we still have a shortfall, hence our £200k target.
Every donation, whether large or small, helps to safeguard a vital community asset and brings us one step closer to securing The King’s Arms for future generations.
Quite simply, your support will help keep the beer flowing, the doors open, and the heart of our village beating for many years to come.
