James Welsh is running 50 miles from Fort William to Oban to raise money for Oban Festive Lights and Oban Hospice’s Dove Centre.
50 miles. Two local causes. One very big challenge.
On 30th December 28-year-old Oban runner and fitness enthusiast James Welsh will take on his biggest endurance challenge yet, running 50 miles from Fort William to Oban.
That’s 50 miles on foot, with the finish line waiting for him in his hometown.
James has developed a real passion for running and endurance challenges and wants to use his own fitness journey to raise money for two local causes: Oban Festive Lights and Oban Hospice’s Dove Centre.
Both charities do something very different, but both make a real difference to people in our local community.
Oban Festive Lights is a volunteer-run charity working to keep Oban shining at Christmas, bringing people together and creating a festive celebration that everyone can enjoy.
The Dove Centre, part of Oban Hospice, provides support for people living with cancer and life-limiting conditions, as well as their families and carers. The Centre offers a welcoming place where people can access practical, emotional and social support, alongside a range of services and activities.
For James, this isn't just about completing 50 miles. It's about using something he loves to help raise money for causes that matter locally.
' I wanted to take on this challenge as a way of doing something positive for the local community and supporting causes that are important to people here in Oban.'
Every donation, whatever the amount, will help James turn those miles into something positive for the local community.
If you can donate, share the fundraiser or simply cheer James on along the route, your support will mean a lot.
