#SaveOurVenues - The Gladstone Arms

Gladstone Arms (fondly named as 'The Glad') is part of a national initiative launched by Music Venue Trust to prevent the closure of hundreds of independent music venues. 

The pub is a much loved family run live music venue located off the beaten track in Borough. A buzzing place for musicians and locals alike, it's an asset of community value. On the brink of closure in the past when it was threatened by demolition & redevelopment into flats, the locals signed a petition to save the pub (#savetheglad).

Our venue is one of hundreds currently at risk of closure because of the ongoing impact of Covid-19. There is still a lot of uncertainty around when lockdown will be lifted, what that will mean for us and if we will make it that far. We anticipate and accept our sector will be one of the last to reopen but this will sadly put a significant amount of financial strain and pressure on the building. With the support of the government, we were able to furlough all of our staff & defer most of our payments, however we'll need more support to cover our rent costs, which unfortunately we still need to endure despite being closed.

Your donations will be used to cover the cost of rent for the next couple of months & fill the shortfall between the government grants, the staff furlough scheme, and our actual monthly outgoings when closed .

If we hit our target, and we can prevent the closure of our venue, everything above the amount we need will be donated to the Music Venue Trust GMV Crisis Fund to protect other venues just like ours, right across the country.
