Kings Langley Cricket Club is the second oldest cricket club in Hertfordshire. We are fast approaching our 200th anniversary in 2030.
As a cricket club we offer cricket to pretty much anyone. We run the ECB's All Star Program that introduces boys and girls to cricket between the ages of 5-8 years. We run age group sides from U8 through to U13. We have two Women's Teams and four Men's teams, all playing in the Saracens Hertfordshire Leagues. We also have a Mixed Ability Training Group that offers the chance to play cricket to those with complex needs.
But the club is more than that. Our facility is used on a weekly basis by a Baby and Toddler Group, by a Singing Group and Lunch Club that offer a focus for socially isolated people in the local community and special interest groups. The club is also a popular venue for Christenings, Birthday and Anniversary Celebrations.
The club is a key part of the local community, located literally and figuratively in the centre of the village.

Why are we crowdfunding?
Our club's facilities were upgraded in the mid 1980's. This provided us with a great clubhouse but over the last few years we have had to replace or repair a lot of the infrastructure. Our Terrace is desperately in need of a complete over-haul. It provides an important setting for club activity. All the games and training sessions from the Juniors to the Women's teams to the Men's Teams have people watching and supporting the club. Most of the clubs and events held at the club spit out onto the terrace, even in the winter! Even though we have done lots of repairs to various slabs and steps over the years, there now needs to be a complete overhaul, so that we have a safe and welcoming facility for all users of the club.
There are three access routes to the club. Two cross the terrace, including the Disabled access. All our users should be able to access the club's facility easily and safely.
The club have committed to supporting Mixed Ability Cricket (often known as Disability Cricket) and have been recognized by the England Cricket Board as a 'Champion Club', for our efforts. For this to continue we need to be confident that the club is a safe, welcoming and easily accessible environment.
How we’ll spend the money raised
We have be collecting quotes for this work and we expect to have to pay over £25,000 to get everything done. This is well beyond the club's financial reach, so we hope that using Crowdfunder, we will be able to run a program of events and promotions that will engage the wider local community and potential sponsors to help us achieve this goal.

In a village community a clubhouse, like ours is a vital facility, that allows a wide range of events to happen. From Christenings to Wakes, from Baby Groups to lunch clubs for the elderly, KLCC is a venue that is of great importance to village life.
