Aim: We’re fundraising for our friend and colleague Fi - to help her make memories & support The Brain Tumour Charity 💛 #ForFi

We first met Fi in 2019 when she came to The Bureau after moving to Glossop. She was undergoing chemotherapy for a brain tumour at the time and was beginning to look at ways to explore the community - she joined us as a volunteer, supporting our Thursday Friends dementia group and working with us in the office with some admin. She slotted right in - her infectious laughter and impeccable trivia knowledge enriched our working lives and it wasn't long before she had joined us on the staff team too.

Earlier this year, Fi went for a routine brain scan and they found a 'smudge'. After further testing and a biopsy it was confirmed that, tragically, a second tumour had been discovered and it was quite aggressive. Her prognosis isn't good and she is now focusing her time and energy on making memories with her wonderful Husband Alex and her (unsurprisingly) vast numbers of friends and close family members.

We want to fundraise as a community for two purposes - the first is to provide a bit of cash to Fi and Alex so they can enjoy as many adventures as possible without worrying about money. Secondly we want to donate to The Brain Tumour Charity - an organisation that has provided invaluable support to them both and we would like to help them to give back.

There are many of us undertaking personal challenges as part of this fundraising effort - but the headliner has got to be Helen Thornhill, who is going to run 300km throughout the 30 days of June. We will add information of the other challenges as we go - sharing updates, pictures and milestones!

Thank you for supporting us to support our friend and colleague Fi x
