As you know, in August I'm turning 30! I'm very conscious that I'm lucky enough to have a lot of nice things in my life already (including all of you!), so I wanted to use this milestone to try and make life better for those that don't.
Let's change some lives!
At the global scale there is now a huge amount of evidence showing that girls education is one of the best investments you can make to break the cycle of poverty.
And on the personal level, I've been privileged to meet so many inspiring girls who are fighting for a brighter future against all the odds, including Hawantu (above) and Bilkisu (below). I've seen and heard first-hand the difference educational support can make for vulnerable girls. I really believe that when you invest in girls, you change the future.
These girls, living in some of the poorest communities in some of the poorest countries, are so often forgotten and overlooked. Without help they face the prospect of abuse, exploitation, early pregnancy, child marriage and a life of poverty for themselves and their children. But for as little as £95 per girl, the story can change - providing school fees, learning materials, uniforms and emotional support that enables girls to thrive and ensure their burning potential isn't wasted.
It would mean the world to me if you could join me in this birthday quest. £3,000 would enable 30 girls to go to school in Uganda when schools reopen after COVID. Big or small, please give what you can, and help spread the word!
