We want to take you on a journey through 26 Cornish places and their rich and resonant names. From Angarrack to Zennor, by way of Feock, Gunwalloe, Nancekuke, Ponsanooth and Tywardreath.
We’ll be showing you places you’ve probably never heard of and revealing hidden aspects of places you thought you knew. We’ll be asking how these places got their names, and what these can tell us about Cornwall’s language and deep history.
To do this, we’ve matched up writers and photographers and sent them to places in every part of Cornwall. As well as writers from the national writers’ association 26, we’ve also asked some award-winning guest authors, and the photographers include some very well-known names.
We’ll be showing their work In an exhibition that opens at the Poly in Falmouth at the end of February 2023, just before St Piran’s Day. And we also want to publish it in a beautifully produced book to be launched at the same time.
Any profit we make from this project will be donated to Kernow Education Arts Partnership (KEAP), which supports schools and artists to use the power of the written and spoken word to transform lives in Cornwall.
