Aim

Help Bushey Boxing Club raise £10,000 for a new boxing ring and punch bags through our 24-hour Punch Bag Marathon.

Awards nightWho we are?

Bushey Boxing Club has been part of the local community since the 1980s, providing generations of young people with a place to learn to box, get fit, build confidence and become part of a team.

For more than 26 years, our club has been based at Bushey Rangers, after my uncle and former trainer brought the club here. More than two decades later, he’s still involved, still comes down to help coach the youngsters and will even be doing his bit in our 24-Hour Punch Bag Marathon!

Boxing runs deeply through our family. I started at Bushey Boxing Club myself and went on to represent England on multiple occasions, compete at the Junior Olympics and later box professionally, winning the Southern Area title.

My cousin Miles, who now coaches alongside me, also represented England, competed at the Junior Olympics and went on to become a professional boxer and win an English title.

Other members of our family have represented the club at national and international level, but the trophies and titles aren’t really what this club is about.

Why are we crowdfunding?

We are a small community boxing club, and after more than 26 years at our current home, some of our equipment desperately needs updating.

Most importantly, our boxing ring has been with us for around 26 years. It’s served generations of Bushey boxers, but the time has come to replace it. We also need new punch bags and other essential training equipment so that we can continue providing our boxers with the environment they deserve.

Rather than simply asking people for money, we wanted to do something that represents what our club is all about — hard work, determination and doing things together.

So we’re taking on a 24-Hour Punch Bag Marathon.

From 12pm Saturday 22 August until 12pm Sunday 23 August, our boxers, coaches, families, friends and supporters will take turns hitting the bag continuously for 24 hours.

Young boxers will be doing shorter slots, while others are taking on 30 minutes, an hour and even two hours. Coaches and members of the family who have been part of this club for decades will be getting involved too.

For 24 hours, the bag doesn’t stop.

How we’ll spend the money raised

Our first target is £10,000.

The money will go towards:

  • A much-needed new boxing ring to replace our current 26-year-old ring
  • New punch bags and training equipment
  • Improvements that will benefit the children, competitive boxers and wider community who use our club

But we have an even bigger ambition.

If we reach £10,000, we’ll push towards a £20,000 stretch target.

Any additional money raised will go towards helping Bushey Boxing Club purchase a minibus.

Our boxers compete at shows and championships around the country, and transport can be one of the biggest challenges for a small amateur club. Having our own minibus would make an enormous difference, allowing us to get more youngsters to competitions and opportunities they have worked so hard for.

Every pound raised will be invested back into giving our boxers better facilities, better opportunities and a club they can be proud of.

Whether you donate £5, £50 or more, you’re helping us continue something that has been part of the Bushey community for decades.

Thank you for supporting Bushey Boxing Club and the next generation of young boxers. 🥊❤️

Community impact

Bushey Boxing Club is about much more than producing competitive boxers.

For decades, we’ve provided a safe, positive and welcoming environment for young people from Bushey, Watford and the surrounding areas. Some arrive wanting to become boxers, while others simply need somewhere to belong, build confidence, get fitter and develop some structure in their lives.

Boxing has a unique way of teaching lessons that extend far beyond the gym. Our young people learn discipline, respect, resilience, self-confidence, teamwork and the value of hard work.

For some youngsters, having somewhere positive to go in the evenings can make a huge difference. We want our club to be a place where young people are surrounded by positive role models, given boundaries and encouraged to believe in themselves.

Our coaches volunteer their time every week because we’ve experienced first-hand what boxing can do for a young person’s life. Success to us isn’t only winning championships. It’s seeing a shy youngster grow in confidence, helping someone stay out of trouble, watching friendships develop and seeing our boxers carry the discipline they learn in the gym into school, work and everyday life.

By supporting this project, you’re not simply helping us buy a new boxing ring or punch bags. You’re investing in a community facility that we hope will continue supporting young people for another generation.

How you can play your part

There are three simple ways you can help us make this happen:

1. Make a donation.
Every donation makes a difference. Whether it’s £5, £20, £50 or more, it all moves us closer to our £10,000 target.

2. Share our Crowdfunder.
If you can’t donate, sharing the page is just as valuable. Send it to friends and family, share it on social media and help us reach as many people as possible.

3. Come and support us.
Join us at Bushey Boxing Club during our 24-Hour Punch Bag Marathon from 12pm Saturday 22 August to 12pm Sunday 23 August and cheer on our boxers, coaches, families and supporters.

Our first mission is £10,000 for a new ring and punch bags.

If we get there, we’re going for £20,000 and a club minibus.

Let’s see how far we can take it together. 👊🏼
