24 Hour Cycle Challenge

I am raising money for The British Heart Foundation, a charity that is important to me as the research that they have conducted over the years has improved the treatment that my Nan has, and will continue to receive in the future. ❤️

There used to be no treatment for a heart attack, now 7/10 victims go home to their families.

In 2018/19 The BHF raised more than £138 million. £128.2 million was spent on life saving research and support for heart patient's. £47.6 million was spent on costs associated with generating income. In other words, for every £1 raised, around 72p, went straight into funding research in heart and circulatory diseases, and the risk factors that cause them. 

Im all for setting myself a bit of a crazy challenge, in May I challenged myself to ride 100 miles, and then to Ride Every Day in June, clocking in a total of 150 miles. So as part of the #harlandsgivesback project I thought I’d try something a little bit different whilst also raising money for a cause ‘close to my heart’.

This time I’m going to be completing a 24 hour challenge where I will cycle for a minimum of 1 mile per hour EACH hour starting at 12AM, yes the middle of the night! The additional miles will be down to you and your kind hearts, for every donation I will cycle 1 additional mile somewhere throughout the day.

A 1 mile cycle will take me approximately 8 minutes, and I would hope to be able to achieve an extra 36 miles bringing me to a grand total of 60 miles and a whopping 8 hours of moving time. Leaving me 16 hours to eat, sleep, and recover throughout the day.

I will be taking on the challenge on Friday 7th August. 24 hours before the challenge is set to begin I will take a final count of donations for extra miles to plan my journeys.
