Every year Welland Junior Football Club host an annual fun run to raise money for the upkeep of the club. There is a lot that goes into running one football team, let alone the 30+ that we have at Welland. The cost of equipment, facilities, and pitch maintenance all add up whilst we try and keep fees for players as low as we can. This year we are unable to run this event.
Covid 19 has had a massive impact in all our lives since March 2020. Football hasn't quite been the same since. Limited numbers, social distancing, and the halt of football all together has meant we haven't been able to enjoy the sport we all love.
Covid 19 has also had a massive impact on the community as a whole with many people being effected financially. This means more people in our area now rely on food banks and parish church donations to feed themselves and their children.
From the 6th March - 4th April as a whole club, which includes all the junior teams, men’s s teams, and ladies team, we aim to run the distance from the Spitalfields in Welland around all 92 Football League teams totalling 2264 miles. This will be an amazing challenge which will unite our club in the effort to raise money for our local food banks and parish churches so they can continue their amazing jobs in providing food and essentials for those who really need it. Some of the money raised will also go towards the club so when we can start football again we are able to provide the best experience for all our players as we can.
We are asking our players to contribute walks, runs, and cycles to complete this challenge.
Your support will be very much appreciated by everyone at Welland FC and we really hope we can make a real personal impact in the community.
