200kms in 2 Days?!

James and Dave are off again!! (The dog will be staying home!)

Their last challenge in December, being battered by brutal winds and rain in sub zero temperatures trudging through mud and wading through floods, somehow hasn't put them off!  No, I don't know how it hasn't either!?!

That challenge was 240kms in 4 days....

Now they're going to cover 200kms in JUST 2 DAYS!!?!!

By completing 10 loops of 20kms, each loop starting and finishing in Bexhill, they will set off in the afternoon of September 8th and finish around the same time on Sunday 10th! Carrying on late into the night on Friday and Saturday, they will be pushing their bodies to their absolute limits, refueling and resting when they can.

This second unbelievable challenge is to raise funds for Willow Tree Children's Support and we couldn't be more grateful to James and Dave for once again choosing to support the work we do for children, young people and families in our local communities.

Please show your support by sharing their amazing challenge with your crowd or make a donation if you’re able to spare some pennies. James and Dave will appreciate being cheered on every step of these gruelling 200kms!!

Who are Willow Tree and what do they do?

Willow Tree Children's Support CIC was formed in 2022 to support children, young people and their families experiencing the impact of bereavement or serious family illness across Battle, Bexhill and the rural Rother area in East Sussex.

The team at Willow Tree have their own experiences of family members with a serious long-term illness and multiple significant bereavements of loved ones which leads to a deep understanding of how important it is to provide children and young people a safe, supportive and nurturing space to express and explore their emotions, to speak and be heard.

Through arts and crafts, storytelling, music and discussion we support children and young people to share and express their thoughts and feelings, discover and develop coping techniques to improve their emotional health and well-being and minimise feelings of isolation and loneliness which can be overwhelming.

Child led approach.

The needs and requirements of the children and young people accessing our services are identified and assessed on an individual basis at the earliest opportunity working in partnership with their families, carers, Schools and supporting agencies. We strongly believe in the impact early intervention can have for children and young people and make it our mission to provide a range of options for those we work with.

After assessment we can provide individual, partnership or group work, all led by the children and young people themselves making sure they are fully involved and engaged with support sessions, building confidence and trust, taking what they need from the sessions they attend.

During such challenging and emotional times, it is vital for children and young people to have a space they can feel safe and secure in, to share their worries and concerns with those who understand, to know they are not alone and there is help available to them.

At Willow Tree we also include the wider family unit in our support. Some families just need a half hour phone call to alleviate worries, some an email check in to ask a few questions, some need a space to drop in and pick up some information and ideas, some enjoy creative workshops to relax and connect with others. We aim to provide these options for families in order to access support in a way that suits them best and that way we can reach more people at an early stage, without a prolonged wait.

How you can help.

Willow Tree is passionate about providing FREE support to children, young people and their families so that there is no financial barrier stopping anyone from accessing crucial and early intervention support at their time of need.

Offering our services for FREE at the point of delivery is incredibly important to us and this means we rely on grants, donations and fundraising to pay for everything we provide. Any donation you are kind enough to make will ensure Willow Tree can continue to provide invaluable support for FREE to the children, young people and families in our local community who need us.

EVERY SINGLE PENNY will make a difference. The money raised will buy materials to be used in sessions, buy items for the children and young people to take home supporting their continued emotional journey outside of sessions and it will facilitate workshops and information sessions. Everything everyone needs, we will be able to continue providing, thanks to your generosity.

Thank you!

Everyone at Willow Tree is incredibly passionate about supporting children, young people, their families and carers during such challenging and emotional times. We are dedicated to helping those who need us whilst they navigate their way forward through life and are so grateful for your support, kindness and generosity in our mission!

With heartfelt thanks,
