If you are a local business or patron and are interesting in match funding, please drop me an email at [email protected] to discuss further.

For over a century, 1st Herne Bay Scout Group has been a rock in our coastal community. Since our founding in 1909, thousands of local young people have stepped through our doors at Arkley Road to build resilience, master life skills, and experience the great outdoors.

From the post-war era when our hall doubled as a local community boxing gym to the historic peak of our massive 1960s Cub packs, every generation of Herne Bay volunteers has stepped up to preserve this safe haven of adventure.

Now, it is our turn.

To support our Group of young people and volunteers, and in order to open the hall up to low-cost community hires - we have launched the Arkley Road 100-Year Transformation Project.

We have already completed Phase 1 by modernising the hall with a clean solar panel array and battery storage, moving us cleanly away from the National Grid and supplying excess electricity back. However, our historic building is currently facing an urgent battle against the elements.

What your donation will fund directly:

  • Critical Damp-Proofing and internal rendering: Protecting our main hall walls and timber flooring from severe moisture damage.
  • Structural Hall Upgrades: Repairing aging brickwork and insulation to drastically cut energy costs.
  • Inclusive Facilities: Finalising accessibility updates to our entrances and toilets so every child in Herne Bay can participate equally.
  • Modern facilities: A fully refurbished and extended kitchen area to expand our scope of activities and future hall hires.

Every penny raised goes directly toward safeguarding the physical fabric of the 1st Herne Bay Scout Hall. Whether you are a former member, a local business, or a supportive neighbour, your contribution ensures that the next century of local children will have a safe, warm, and inspiring space to start their own adventures.

Thank you for your incredible support. Together, we are building skills for life!

Warm regards,

Dan Prevett
