Protect our nursery from deer and grow more Cornish trees for nurseries, foresters, farmers, landowners and communities
The Grower is a Cornwall-based wholesale tree nursery supplying bare-root trees, shrubs, hedging plants, potted trees and planting accessories. We work with nurseries, foresters, farmers, landowners, estates, landscapers and community planting projects across Cornwall and throughout the UK.
We are based on our fifth-generation, 200-acre family farm. The farm follows regenerative farming principles and has diversified into renewable energy and other environmentally focused rural businesses. These enterprises work together with a shared emphasis on improving soil health, capturing carbon, supporting nature recovery and creating sustainable rural employment.
Our mission is to grow and supply high-quality, UK-grown trees and hedging, supported by knowledgeable and tailored advice. Our wider vision is to be a catalyst for positive change in the land-based sector—growing not only trees, but also sustainable careers, thriving communities and a healthier environment.
Our team brings together practical experience in horticulture, landscaping, farming and land management. Alongside growing trees, we provide a complete service for customers, including advice, planting and ongoing maintenance
We currently have the capacity to grow more than half a million trees, but deer pose a serious threat to our young nursery stock. Browsing and physical damage can destroy plants, reduce the number of saleable trees and limit our ability to expand production.
The money raised through this Crowdfunder will be used to purchase and install 350 meters of secure deer fencing around our production area. This will protect our existing trees, reduce avoidable losses and allow us to increase the number and range of trees we grow in Cornwall.
By supporting the project, you will help us provide more UK-grown trees for woodland creation, forestry, farming, hedgerow planting, landscaping, nature recovery and community projects. You will also be supporting a growing rural business committed to reinvesting in its people, its landscape and its local community.
