All additional funding will be used to make the football club resilient to future shocks.
Somerton Town Youth Football Club was established in 2001 to provide physical activity to children and young people through the medium of football. Since we began, we have grown from strength to strength and have become an important part of our town.
Our organisation aims to provide fun, inclusive and accessible football to players aged four to sixteen.

Our organisation is affiliated with the FA and we are a Charter Standard Club. We currently have eleven teams and a soccer school. Our teams participate in the following age groups:-
We are a not-for-profit volunteer organisation. Our volunteers dedicate their time on match days and training sessions to help develop our young players into positive members of our community, through the FA respect initiative, that is a core value of our organisation.

We also have a committee of volunteers that provide support to our coaches and run the day-to-day management of organisation. Our committee also assist in fund raising and social events for our community.

Where we can we aim to support our local community and organisations related to football. We have recently donated unused kits to teams in Africa.

Over the last few years (since covid-19 : 2020), our organisation has strived to maintain accessibility to youth football within our community. To support our community and the young people we serve, our organisation decided not to increase the fees paid by our players during the covid-19 epidemic.
Over the course of the last three years, we have not only been impacted by covid-19; the cost-of-living crisis now has a larger impact on our organisation. When the cost-of-living crisis first appeared, our committee immediately saw the need to support our community again, by freezing fees.
By keeping the fees ‘freezed’, we have remained accessible to all. Covid-19 and the cost-of-living have affected many people in different ways. Our football club has allowed children to express themselves and to prevent them ‘suffering in silence’. Football maybe the only physical activity they participate in which can help promote their mental health but also encourages them to socialise with others and have fun, as well as being praised and encouraged by our dedicated team of coaches and managers.
As the cost-of-living has evolved, all of the costs related to running our organisation have increased. Our biggest outgoings have sharply increased, training pitch hire, match day pitch hire and referee fees.
Our vision is to continue to build the youth football teams within our club, to ensure a steady flow of players into the senior sides, to create a family environment for everyone to play and support football, plus for families to feel the club is a safe environment where they can socialise as well as play sport, however, we require help by raising money due to the increased costs we face so we can continue to provide youth activities within our community.
There are two simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
Money raised via crowd funding will be used for day-to-day running costs for the remainder of the 2022/2023 season and give the football club some financial stability as we progress into the new season (2023/2024).
Raised money will used towards remaining costs for this season and will take us upto September 2023:
- training hire pitch fees (£450)
- match day pitch fees (£450)
- presentation event to reward our player for thier contribution to the club and our community during 2022/ 2023 (£100)
Note: Any additional funding will be used for training pitch fees and match day pitch fees in season 2023/ 2024.
