We're trying to raise money to buy a canvas mess tent to take on camps.

About the project

We're a small Scout Group based in Southend on Sea. We formed in September 2013 after being invited by St Mark's Church to create the unit. Our group is growing slowly however we've had a recent surge in Cubs as several of our Beavers have turned 8 and so joined the Cub Pack.

In July we'll be taking the Cubs and Scouts on a weekend camp. The Beavers will be joining us for the day. Last year we borrowed a mess tent from another group however they are using it the same weekend that our camp is planned for. This has led us to the realisation we really need our own mess tent.

In September the badge requirements are changing to allow Beavers to go onto camps for the first time.

If we had our own mess tent we would be able to take our young people on more camps/events throughout the year. If they tent is well cared for it could be used for 20+ years. It could allow 100s of young people to go on action packed camp trips.

The tent we're looking at comes from the official Scout shop however we will look around for the best price once we've raised the money.

Any additional funds raised above what we need will be donated to the Nepal Scout Association to aid them while they help with the aftermath of this months earthquake.
