Volunteers need drysuits to perform lifeboat rescue & recovery. As much as we fix up, sometimes replacements are required.
Severn Area Rescue Association (SARA) is available 24/7 for search and rescue operations. The 200 SARA volunteers operate Inshore Lifeboats and conduct Search and Rescue operations on land and water, covering a wide area around the River Severn. They are called out over 100 times every year.
SARA helps provide safety for those who want to enjoy the outdoors, whether that be for mental or physical health. Everyone in SARA is a volunteer and gain transferable skills to use in other aspects of life - teamwork, first aid, leadership, outdoor safety etc.
SARA also teaches water safety, for example in schools. It supports Duke of Edinburgh Award students. It runs events, such as abseils and provides first aid cover for local events, for example for community fireworks.
Anyone living or working in the area can get into trouble. SARA is there 24/7. Those who may be particularly at risk are the very young, very old and those with physical and or mental health conditions.
