Aim

We are planning to reopen Oldway Tea Rooms, to be run by volunteers for Friends of Oldway, initially as a Takeaway as regulations allow.

The Friends of Oldway, Torbay Council and Oldway Charitable Trust are planning the total renovation and reopening of Oldway Mansion.

Oldway was completed in 1873 as the home of the Singer sewing machine family. Since then it has had an amazing history, being used as an American War Hospital (https://americanwomenswarhospital.com/), a Country Club ( https://www.golfsmissinglinks.co.uk/index.php/england/south-west/devon/1007-dev-torbay-golf-a-country-club-shorton-road-paignton ) and the Civic Offices of Paignton Urban District Council. But most recently by Torbay Council and the Registry Office. Thousands of people have fond memories of weddings in the mansion. Eventually being the 2nd most popular venue in the UK.

But it is has sadly been closed and stood empty since 2013 following a failed attempt to convert it into a Hotel.

As a first stage we would like to open the Tea Rooms and hold Open Days and tours for the public.

We need to renovate the kitchen, cafe area, provide disabled access and some seating outside...... we need your help. Please donate, and for this kind gesture we will give you a years membership to the Friends of Oldway, we will keep you up to date with the Project, give us more and we will treat you to some goodies from The Tea Rooms. (or even more and you could have a private tour). 100% of money raised will go to the Oldway project.

So come and help us to start the reopening of our beloved Oldway!
