Hi, I'm Femi. I'm a 27-year-old law graduate from Birmingham with a background working in EU affairs.
I'm going to deliver the Will of the People, the people who will actually have to live with the consequences of Brexit.
The under 55 population of the UK voted to Remain in the EU. Brexit is a long-term project which will take decades to complete and won't even start until 2021. On the basis of those facts alone it needs to be stopped. The alternative would be knowingly creating a situation where by the time we actually leave, based on natural realities, we would be a Remain country.
To explain the plan we need to work backwards:
Can Brexit be stopped?
Yes. The EU confirmed that it's up to us.
How do we do that democratically?
Vote on the final deal.
How do we make that happen?
Show enough opposition to Brexit that the government has to let us review it.
How do we do that?
We change the debate. Forget who's wrong or right. Just look at who's more affected by Brexit. I've already started publishing video testimonials from young Brits (under 45s) across the country. These are the people who are most affected by Brexit, and they're the group that voted most strongly against it.
Ultimately we'll be getting young people to film conversations with their parents where they say: "Mum, dad… I didn't vote for this. Yes I still have more to learn in life, but I know that this future isn't the one we want. And quite simply, it's going to affect me a lot more than it will affect you. In terms of the economy, with all the conflicting facts out there, you can't be 100% certain that this won't make my life harder in future. I know you love me. I know you want me to be happy long into the future. So please, if the country gets the chance to vote on a final deal, give me the future that I want for myself."
This is an emotional plea, not a technical one. However if you would like to brush up on the technical side, I studied EU Law and I've been setting the facts straight on Brexit for over 2 years now, including several discussions with Nigel Farage. I'm on Twitter so if you want a crash-course on how the EU affects us , just have look. So if they do bring up the technicalities, give an answer, but try to get back to the heartfelt plea.
The more videos we get, the more we show that this country's direction is no longer the Will of the People.
I'll be completely honest with you. I already have most of the equipment required to make this happen. What I need is the financial support to be able to do this full time, ideally with the help of a team. This campaign requires travelling the country to speak to people and get their stories. It needs time to energise people, to remind them that it's their future we're talking about and that they have the right to make their voices heard.
