About Northfield Community Partnership
Northfield Community Partnership is a charity based within Northfield South West Birmingham, working from our community HUB in Northfield High street, working to build peoples life chances through a range of vital services these include, job and employment support, housing and benefit advice, UK online centre and free computers, food bank, sexual health centre and volunteer HUB.
The partnership works with over 10,000 people per year.
As well as these daily services we help to organise outside projects and events.
Northfield Beach was started 7 years ago to address the need that many people could not afford to go on holiday and that there was a lack of art, music and cultural opportunities in the local area.
We felt that as many people could not go to the beach that we would bring the beach to them !!
The event runs for 5 days during the first week of the summer holidays and has become an integral part of the communities annual events. The event attracts over 8000 people a year to take part in a range of activities, these include an urban beach with buckets and spades, deck chairs and seaside entertainment such as punch and Judy.
We also offer a large range of arts and craft activities, free face painting, live theatre, street entertainers, musical performances and workshops to take part in.
Past street entertainment has included, life size dinosaurs, Samba bands, giant mermaids and many more.
As well of all of this free entertainment, we also provide a 'community alley ' where we take our services to the beach and alongside ourselves invite other local providers of services to take part in the event, this ensures that the event is too fold, providing much needed free entertainment and activities which build health and well being, but also informs participants of opportunities which can improve their life chances.
The event has featured on TV, radio and in national magazines.
Why are we crowdfunding?
The events activities are and have always been free ensuring that the event is genuinely inclusive to all members of the community.
This year we are launching a crowd funding page to ensure we are able to continue to run the event which has become so popular amongst our community .
All of the activities provided have to be fund raised for by NCP. We are asking that if you support, like or have attended the event that you give a little to help us to continue this much loved event.
