Military Museum Scotland is a fantastic unique museum based on the Scottish War Blinded estate in West Lothian. It has been going now for 2.5 years and recently won Scottish Tourist attraction of the year 2019. We operate a Veterans Breakfast Club and Veterans Drop-in. The museum is fully staffed by volunteers, mostly Veterans, so it has become a museum for veterans run by veterans. We get no grant funding, relying only on the small entry fee, donations and our own fundraising initiatives. We now have the opportunity to aquire this Saracen Armoured car and restore it to its former glory. To do that we need to raise the money to purchase it and restore it. It will be restored by veterans some who have worked on the vehicles in the past and others who are keen to learn. Its not just about the restoration though, its about helping the veterans, giving them something to focus on, mixing and socialising with fellow veterans, some who suffer from PTSD and some with other disabilities. The work we do at Military Museum Scotland has already changed the lives of some people, this project will do the same. We have a core of about 8 veterans that will be the main workforce, most have crewed this vehicle at some point in their careers. It is also open for any veteran to get involved with the project. It is more than the restoration though, only other veterans realise what its like to be a veteran and what they went through while serving.this project is also about re-igniting the cameraderie, being part of that team again. Meeting new friends and re aquainting with old friends. Let the banter commence. Please help spread the word about it and donate what you can. If you cant donate via this platform, you can contact us directly to donate other ways. [email protected] Thanks. Check us out on Facebook.
