Crynodeb

Mae Tafarn y Plu wedi bod yn dŷtafarn ers tua 1816, ac erbyn hyn yr olaf o’r pump oedd unwaith yn gwasanaethu Llanystumdwy. Mae’n dŷrhydd sydd heb unrhyw ymrwymiad i fragdy na chyflenwyr eraill, ac mae’n dal i redeg fel busnes proffidiol. Er hynny, mae wedi bod ar werth ers tair blynedd, gyda’r perchnogion presennol – sydd wedi bod wrth y llyw ers 2004 – yn awyddus i symud ymlaen er mwyn darganfod heriau newydd. Os na fydd prynwr yn cymryd y busnes drosodd, neu os na fydd yn cael ei gymryd fel menter gymunedol, y tebygrwydd yw y gwneir cais cynllunio ar gyfer newid defnydd. Byddai perygl i’r pentref a’r ardal golli un arall o’u canolfannau cymdeithasol pwysig, gyda Llanystumdwy yn dod yn le di-enaid heb galon gymdeithasol na masnachol.

Oherwydd eu pryder y byddai hyn yn gwneud cam mawr â’r gymuned, a’r cenedlaethau sydd i ddod, daeth grŵp cymunedol bychan at ei gilydd yng Ngorffennaf 2018 i sefydlu Menter y Plu, gan ffurfio pwyllgor llywio ar y pryd. Lledaenwyd y syniad ar lafar gyda defnyddwyr presennol y dafarn yn ymateb yn ffafriol. Mae Menter y Plu wedi ei gofrestru gyda’r awdurdodau perthnasol fel sefydliad cymwys i geisio prynu Tafarn y Plu fel eiddo rhydd-ddaliol ac i’w redeg er lles y gymuned.

Mae ein hamcanion yn syml: “I gynnal Tafarn y Plu fel tafarn a siop gymunedol draddodiadol Gymreig, mewn iaith ac ethos, i gael ei rhedeg gan Menter y Plu er lles y gymuned ac er pleser i unrhyw un sydd yn dymuno dod i mewn drwy ei drysau.”

Er mwyn symud ymlaen gyda’r fenter hon, mae Menter y Plu yn gobeithio codi’r arian sydd ei angen drwy werthu cyfranddaliadau, ynghyd âbenthyciadau, grantiau a rhoddion, a dyma lle'r ydym angen eich help chi - am fwy o Gwybodaeth, ewch draw i'n gwefan: https://menteryplu.cymru

Summary

Tafarn y Plu has been a public house since about 1816, now the last of five that once served Llanystumdwy. It is a free house without any ties to any brewery or other suppliers, and still running as a profitable concern. However, it has been for sale for the past three years, with the present owners – who have been at the helm since 2004 – eager to move on to look for new challenges. If no purchaser takes over the business, or if it is not taken over as a community venture, the most likely conclusion is that a planning application will be made for its change of use. The village and area would then be in danger of losing yet another of its important social centres, with Llanystumdwy descending into a soul-less place without a social or commercial heartbeat.

Concerned that this would be doing the community, and the generations to come, a major dis-service, a small community-based group came together in July 2018 to set up Menter y Plu and a steering committee formed at the time. The idea was spread by word of mouth with a positive response given by the present pub users.

Menter y Plu is registered with the relevant authorities as a competent organisation to try to purchase Tafarn y Plu as a freehold property and to run it for the benefit of the community.

Our aims are simple: “To maintain Tafarn y Plu as a traditional Welsh, in language and ethos, community pub and shop, to be run by Menter y Plu for the community’s benefit and for the pleasure of anybody who cares to venture through its doors.”

In order to proceed with this venture, Menter y Plu hopes to raise the money it needs through selling an issue of shares, along with loans, grants and donations, and this is where we need your help - please view our website for more information: https://menteryplu.cymru
