Lebanon is going through a devastating year. In addition to the economic collapse, currency devaluation, and widespread corruption, the recent August 4th blast in the port of Beirut has left an unprecedented number of people homeless, left with absolutely no support from the state.
Matbakh el Balad was born out of the October 2019 uprising and is made up of a group of volunteers dedicated to bring food to those who need it. We cook warm meals and pack food parcels for families throughout Lebanon. Currently, we are providing 650 vetted families with monthly non-perishable food packages that cover the needs of a family of 5 for the duration of the month. Our aim is to increase the number of families to 1000, provided we are able to raise the funds.
Matbakh el Balad is part of a greater community focused on supporting families in need, all the while demanding basic dignity and rights to all in Lebanon. We work relentlessly to provide food security to those affected by the deteriorating state of things in Lebanon.
