MASC Covid relief fund

Aim

We are launching a Crowdfunding campaign to help raise additional funds to support our swimmers on our return to pool.

Who we are:

MASC has been supporting swimmers to reach their potential and follow their dreams for over a 100 years. We have had a variety of successes with swimmers competing at a variety of levels local, regional and national competitions, including representing GB at an international level and we encourage participation in the sport at all ages.

We offer our swimmers the opportunity to realise their full potential in swimming., enabling them to follow their aspirations to achieve their goals, in a fun and friendly environment through the support of a dedicated and inspirational coaching team.

We are lucky to have a host of volunteers  that support the successful running of the club which without them would make it much harder and as a club we aim to invest in not only our swimmers but our coaches and volunteer development as well.

We would like to grow as a club offering a variety of new opportunities such as offering our swimmers the chance to participate in training camps both in this country and overseas, a variety of dry land training opportunities and access to training in a 50 metre pool to support and enhance their development.

Impact of covid-19:

As with many others the last 12 months has had a significant impact on us, not only on the club’s revenue stream, but for our swimmers who have lost the ability to take part in their chosen sport. We need support to help us to continue helping our swimmers to achieve their full potential on our return to pool.

During the different periods of lockdown we made the decision to suspend our training fees as no swimming could be undertaken. With this and the inability to host galas our reserves have significantly reduced and we would like to raise £10,000 as part of this crowdfunding campaign to support our return to pool activities. We will also be applying for extra funding through Sport England which means if our application is successful we could receive up to 50% of our target, but we need everyone's help to get there.

What have we been doing:

During the lockdown our swimmers have had the opportunity to continue with a comprehensive land training programme through zoom delivered via the head coach, supported by the wider coaching team. In addition we have over the last 12 months hosted a variety of zoom sessions covering nutritional advice, mental wellbeing and Q & A's with former club swimmers.

In addition we have carried out fundraising activities during the last 12 months to support the club and our activities.
