Help us fit out our new veg box packing shed and buy an electric van so we can deliver even more local organic vegetables!

New stretch target

Any extra we can raise beyond our initial target will let us improving our packing shed further and buy a second chiller which will quickly become essential as the veg box scheme grows further!

Locavore is a social enterprise working to build a more sustainable food future which is better for the environment, local economies and our communities.

We started from a tiny shop in Shawlands in 2012 and now do loads of stuff including:

• Running our grocery store at 349 Victoria Road on the south-side of Glasgow which focuses on local, organic, zero waste foods and hosts our organic cafe.
• Growing organic fruit and vegetables across three sites in and around Glasgow with plans to increase this further through our longer term proposals for Bellahouston Nursery.
• Delivering organic veg boxes to around 1000 households per week as well as produce to other local cafes, shops and restaurants.
• Teaching people about small scale organic horticulture through our Grow the Growers programme and assisting those in food poverty through our Good Food Fund.

Due to lack of space to pack more vegetables in the back of our shop we have been turning away new subscribers since early this year and now have over 750 people on our waiting list. That’s a lot of people who want to eat local organic vegetables!

We now have a new packing shed to use within Bellahouston Nursery but we need your help to raise some money which will allow us to fit it out and reopen our veg box scheme to new customers.

With the money you pledge we will:

• Fit out our new packing shed with everything needed to pick and pack orders for our weekly veg boxes and wholesale customers. This will include lots of tables and scales as well as purchasing a refrigerated shipping container to keep all the produce nice and fresh.
• Pay the deposit on our first electric van which will allow us to reduce the environmental impact of our delivers and increase our capacity to deliver more local organic produce.

We hope that with your pledges we will be fully relocated, able to fulfil rewards and delivering our veg boxes to new customers by the middle of August at the latest.

Thanks!
