17th March 2021What a load of old rubbish!

We did what we set out to do. Litter pick East Brighton Park. The amount of much rubbish collected was as much of a surprise to us as it was to passing locals. Not wishing to dwell on the rubbish, we wanted to write this 'update' to say thank you to you all for your contributions which all go to the AGHAST campaign, and your support and well wishes.

The pictures show favourable weather, but there was a little trepidation the night before as high winds were forecast for Saturday. We'd promised to tackle the task whether subjected to rain or shine, but didn't account for a strong south-westerly (which living where we live now seems a bit dim but there you go.) We met outside the East Brighton Park cafe under a bruising sky.

After a safety talk we got to work. The bags were quickly filled with rubbish, and we decanted them into even bigger bags before going out again. These steps were repeated over as you can imagine. We started at 10am and in no time at all it was nearing a lunch break. So finishing this section...

...and regrouping for a pre-lunch photo...

...we downed tools, and had a well deserved break.

With just the right amount of sustenance and before the troops got too restless we got back to litter picking until 2pm. After all the work was done I'm pleased to say we stayed to enjoy the park for a couple of hours more. We love East Brighton Park! We hope you do too. Thanks again.
