Our aim is to raise enough money to support the purchasing of specialist equipment, such as scales, a nut butter machine, fittings and fixtures, as well as being able to fund the deposit on the premises.
If you would like to contribute to our Crowdfunder, no matter how small or large, we would like to offer you a thank you in return (right hand column).
We have found our premises and signed up! So, we will be working hard over the next month to make it into a store for Lemon & Jinja, opening beginning of March. We will be in Unit 20, Basepoint, Abbey Park Industrial Estate. Here, we are easily accessible from Romsey, Winchester and Southampton (just off the M27). Basepoint is a vibrant location, with around 80 start up businesses, varying from hairdressers, to florists, from gyms to bakeries.
Lemon & Jinja was first launched November 2018 with incredibly positive feedback from you. Since then we have grown in followers and popularity. Our goal was always to open a zero waste store in Romsey selling a wide range of food and household items, with the aim to minimise wastage and costs. Some of the foods we will stock are: pastas, lentils, beans, rice, herbs, spices, nuts and seeds (the list goes on!). We will also be selling refillable household cleaning products, as we know this is an area where there is a lot of plastic wastage.
Once opened, we are looking to expand with a small cafe, with specialist coffee, to help you relax while you shop! The money will also go towards fitting it out.
Additionally, we will be offering a click and collect service, so let's get it going!
We are the Dugdale sisters - we have grown up in Braishfield (just outside Romsey) and have always had a base here. Our family moved to Uganda when we were in school, so we finished our schooling in a very different environment. As you notice from our name 'Lemon & Jinja' (Jinja is a town at the source of the Nile in Uganda), Uganda has a special place in our heart and we have brought it back to Romsey with us.
We are both passionate about the environment and doing our part, so we are here to help you do it too.
To coin a phrase, we have begged, borrowed and stolen (well, we haven't stolen...just borrowed your car, mum!) and we are almost there. Please help us make this a reality.
Love, Lemon & Jinja X
