Help Get Alfrick Cricket Club Off The Ground
Who Are We?
Alfrick Cricket Club is a small cricket club based in Worcestershire. We are focused on playing social cricket for the sheer fun of it. The club is, therefore, set up to value participation over performance and aims to promote activity and inclusion for all members of the community.
We feel that we can help get more people in the area active but also provide a place for people to get to know one another and be part of the club. This could be playing, umpiring, making a cake, helping with pitch or just coming along and spectating.
COVID has had a large impact on all communities and people have become isolated. Having cricket in the village will give people a chance to participate and meet new people.

Encouraging all members of our community.
How Do We Get Playing Again?
In order to get playing as we emerge from COVID lockdown the club needs to invest in a number of areas. The club has no communal playing kit which is a necessity to allow all to participate. There needs to be enough of this to be COVID safe. We are also in need of sets of stumps for playing and training equipment to run practice sessions. The club will also now have to invest in equipment to make sure that all are activities comply with COVID guidelines. This includes sanitising stations and additional equipment to make sure that we can provide teas in a safe environment. All of this equipment will need to be stored.

Our very dilapidated net.
Why Do We Need Your Support?
Our community has been hit hard by COVID-19 as have communities all over the UK. For the club it has meant that it has been impossible to play and generate any income hence we need support. Plans for the development of the club have had to be paused whilst we assessed what was happening with the pandemic.
Now that we are trying to get back to playing we need to make sure that it is done in a safe fashion and that means the club has additional kit to fund. Cricket has been played at Alfrick for over a century it would be real shame if we could not continue this tradition.

The Season Ahead
With the backing of local community and businesses we will be able start on a journey to a thriving village cricket team that provides a place where the village can meet to participate in sport and socialise as a whole.
At present we have nearly 70 people interested in becoming members and an active committee that is engaging with the community. We are really happy with the support and interest we are getting and especially happy that we seem to be reaching all ages within our community.
We have several games planned as well as training sessions and look forward to seeing cricket back at Alfrick very soon.
