Aim
I am looking for help funding the launch of this all natural hair gel for thicker hair textures.
Please note that this is an ALL OR NOTHING Crowdfund. Meaning, if I do not reach the target, all donations will be refunded.
The Problem
After creating and sending out a survey about hair gels and whether people understand what they're putting in their hair, over 70% of respondents said they don't actually know if the products that they are putting in their hair are safe.
Research has shown that there are a variety of products, especially black hair products, that contain harmful ingredients, and some even illegal. Some of these black hair products include Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals (EDC's), which affect the functioning of hormones.
Although I could find hair conditioning and moisturising products that offered all-natural alternatives, I struggled to find all-natural hair gels that worked as well as the big brand competitors (which had harmful ingredients in them). So I did some research to make my own all-natural hair gel and found a formula that worked so well for my 4c textured hair.
What will this funding go towards?
The thing is, the cosmetic industry is super pricey. So, I'd appreciate all the help that I could get to put this hair gel through the right stability testing to ensure the product has a long shelf life and is as best as it can be. One stability test is approximately £1000. There are also other tests such as PET's that test the preservatives used in the product and other tests that check the product for bacteria. Ideally, I'd like to put the hair gel through all these applicable tests to ensure that on its launch, it is perfect the first time around. Ultimately, I'd like this hair gel to provide a healthy natural, and sustainable solution.
I am currently working with a chemist to ensure the preservatives used in the product are all naturally derived and that it is the best formula it can be. This too is on a paid basis.
So, a friend suggested starting this crowdfunder to reach out for help in funding this business idea.
About The Founder
I am a freelance writer with a niche in black hair. So, as you can imagine, I have a strong passion for natural hair and being conscious about what you are putting in your hair to help your hair journey.
Throughout my 2 years of being a freelance writer, I have learned about ingredients and consumers of black hair products and their habits. This knowledge will undoubtedly help me in the running of this Laid Locs gel.

The Solution
I truly believe that this hair gel offers a solution to what many people don't even realise is a problem- using products that have harmful ingredients in them- especially with hair gel.
