Knock Door. Run! A Fundraisers Diary
We are the first modern generation to grow up poorer than our parents, many of us working insecure jobs or zero hours contracts. At 'All Souls Productions,' we aim to make accessible, funny content that tells stories we feel have been underrepresented, shining a light on everyday issues that we take for granted.
'Knock Door. Run!' is a comedy set in modern Manchester following a group of door to door charity fundraisers. They work for a different charity each week, each cause more obscure than the last, trying to survive being paid only commission. They face the bad weather, abuse on the door and a boss who only cares about results.
It's a cynical, surreal show, about the strange things that can happen door to door and the strange people that choose to do it as a job. It's fun, high energy comedy about bad job prospects, squeezed living standards and a longing for something more – things which affect a lot of people in modern Britain. All the characters are looking for an escape of some kind, they're unhappy with the work available to them but are not sure the alternatives are any better. They're also misfits – going door to door can be a soul destroying job, it takes an odd person to take constant rejection and insults.
We need your help to shoot a 15 minute pilot of 'Knock Door. Run!'. The funding raised will be used to source equipment, secure shooting locations, and pay actors and crew's expenses. a 15 minute short/ pilot version of 'Knock Door. Run!'
Although this is a pilot episode, set at the start of the journey, we have also written it to work as a standalone short, so you'll get to see something you were a vital part of creating being represented at film festivals all over the world
