I am seeking to raise funds to reclaim money on behalf of 51 backers who donated to a fraudulent kickstarter.

by Comedy For Justice in London, England, United Kingdom

Just under six months ago “Comedian” Harry Deansways campaign raised just over a thousand pounds to fund his debut comedy special. The way it was pitched it sounded like a fresh take on the oversaturated stand up special market. I, like I assume the other backers were very excited to help this down on his luck stand up get to release this. Little did we know at the time that this was an elaborate scheme to extort money from innocent comedy fans and it seems Deansway never had any intention to use the money to release the Special. I’m beginning to question whether the gig even happened at all. I don’t mind that I’ve lost money but if you promise me a free badge and don’t deliver it then you have an enemy for life.

This is the original Kickstarter campaign

I’ve managed to track a couple of the other backers down online who are loyal to the cause and I have consulted with a lawyer and they think we the people have a very good chance of winning a trial at a small claims court. We’d be looking to get a CCJ against him in order to reclaim the money and pay back the other Kickstarter backers up to £1000.  Any donations at all will be greatly received and go a long way towards making sure that justice is served.

If the case is successful as our Lawyer assures us it will be we will also lobby the production company to release the footage to us so we can bring the special out. He promised it was coming out in February it’s now April. We've secured an editor who said they will finish the project for £150. And of course we are going to deliver the 51 backers a badge :)

We are looking to raise £315. £115 to file the CCJ, £150 to pay an editor and £50 to get the badges done. Our Lawyer is operating on a no win no fee basis. They have a  great track record in fraud cases.

I hope you will support us in this campaign on behalf of the so called #51mugs (how the defendant has been goading his kickstarter backers online) I’ve kept my identity secret as he seems like the sort of guy that might turn nasty and maybe get me in trouble at work. But you can get in touch at comedy4justice@gmail.com if you require any information.

Justice will be served with your help, so let’s make it happen together.
