Paisley has a deep and iconic heritage. With the increase in local investment focussing on the restoration of Paisley Museum and a radical reimagining of the Paisley Centre, we are a town at the start of an exciting period of growth!
At the centre of the town is a thriving social life that includes excellent food and places to get together. Sadly the last few years have seen the town centre struggle and covid certainly hasn't helped. BUT, with a change in priorities, like staying local and spending valuable time with friends in nice surroundings we see a change on the horizon.
Our priority is local first. Local investment, creating a business that supports local produce, with an amazing space for local people to support and enjoy all the creativity and skill we have in Paisley.
What are we thinking!?
We want to create an entirely new concept to Scotland (If not the U.K) with Jigger House.
What is a Jigger House? Traditionally it's an illegal distillery; think prohibition and gin in tea pots. With a modern twist that centres on responsible drinking in a relaxed and family friendly atmosphere, our plan is to create a short hours bar (11:30am-9pm) that includes space for local artists, producers and community projects to get together.
Think of it like this...
It's a place where you can meet your friend after work for a catch up and a banana and Brass Neck Rum milkshake.
Outdoor space is crucial these days and we have a site that will allow excellent local access and coverage in the poor weather. After all, on the way home from xmas eve shopping at The White Cart Co. you'll want your Nutella and whiskey hot chocolate in the snow by our outdoor heaters.
A site located at the very heart of Paisley's history, our location is being thoughtfully restored from being derelict to fit for modern use. Everything from matching the slate on the roof to the original quarry all the way to having a new steel staircase fabricated to match the ancient one that was needing some TLC.
Who are we?
We are a Father and Daughter team who are life long Paisley residents. We've lived farther afield during our life, but we always come back and we believe that now is the time to do something exciting and put our passion project at the centre of the local produce market. We have lots of experience in business between us and we think, "hey why don't we try and do this for ourselves?!". You could call us mad, but we are confident in our brand, our concept, our strategy (our outdoor space) and our ability to make this work for the benefit of everyone we can involve.
What we need
We need your support to get our plans to the final step and move into our new home. So please join us in supporting the green shoots of growth and creativity in our proud home town of Paisley.
