The Challenge
InHouse Records is a simple approach to a complex problem.
UK prisons have high levels of violence and unemployment and beyond prison we have issues such as high re-offending rates and an exponential growth in knife crime.
Our Response
InHouse Records is the worlds first record label to be launched in a prison and run by prisoners and our graduates.
Focusing on prisoners strengths, we are able to create safe and enabling environments that reduce violence in prisons. We build on existing skills and develop new ones, through dialogue and sustained relationships that create transferable and direct work skills, helping our graduates land better jobs upon release.
Not Easy
The prisoners give up many privileges in order to work hard on making the label successful. If you have ever set up your own business you know how hard that can be, its even tougher in such a competitive arena as the music industry, and tougher still, trying to do it all from prison.
Change
InHouse Records is a label that is making a difference to a complex problem, benefiting our neighbourhoods by creating safer communities and less victims of crime.
Since launching in September 2017, we have expanded to multiple UK prisons, where positive behaviour has increased exponentially. InHouse enjoys a super high engagement rate for participants who are released from prison. InHouse Records is more than a record label, it changes lives by empowering communities to restore themselves.
Your Help
Building on our success inside prisons, 2019 marks a step change for InHouse, as we focus our efforts on our preventative work that takes place outside of prison.
We need your help to raise £50K.
This sum will pay for a whole year of our preventative work, and kickstart what we believe will be a great start up social enterprise. The funds will completely cover; securing a shop for our first Record Store in London’s Hoxton, which will act as a meeting hub for all our graduates. The space will include access to adjoined rehearsal and recording facilities, as well as becoming a retail store selling InHouse vinyl, collectible vinyl and InHouse merchandise!
