We need to replace our poly tunnel in order to support more emergency food provision and growing learning.

New stretch target

Run our six week introduction to food growing course for free to people on low incomes, giving them the skills to take back into their communities to set up gardens there.

At Incredible Edible Bristol over the last 6 years we have supported more than 50 community spaces to become food growing gardens. From tiny boxes to a park, we have brought food growing into the public realm, sharing our skills of growing, volunteer retention, garden design, fundraising and more s we have gone. This is our core work and will always continue.

However, throughout the pandemic we realised that emergency food provision was needed and so we began ensuring that from the gardens where it was safe we would grow as much food as possible and get it into the communities that were struggling to access fresh, affordable food. Our wish is to continue to do this until such time as it is no longer needed. And all the while we were aware that people all across the city were beginning to grow and needed support. So we set about offering online learning opportunities which we hope will, when safe, become in person at the Speedwell site.

But there has been a disaster in that Storm Ellen has broken our poly tunnel and we need a new one, and we have realised that in order to teach more we also need more tools, gloves and equipment. We have also seen a drop in funding availability and so we are turning to the city and hoping you can help.

By supporting the creation of the learning zone you'll be helping us to support more communities and individuals to grow, the city to become a greener and cleaner place and one that looks beautiful. But you'll also be supporting people who are struggling to find their way, to connect more with both nature and people and to lead more fulfilling lives.

Ross who volunteered with us for several years after a difficult time in his life, and who has recently trained to become an ecologist after opening time in nature with us says, "I was in a difficult situation and Incredible Edible Bristol provided me with, not only a project to sink my teeth into, but friends, support and community. Not hyperbole to say it changed my life"
