Aim
I AM NORWELL ROBERTS QPM is a biographical short film drama about London's first black Police Officer and the racism he faced.
"Suppose someone called you a black B*stard, what would you do?"
It’s a story that deserves to be told, for the man who served his country for 30 years, help me to in turn serve him.
With the personal project backing of Norwell Roberts, this short film drama will tell of the racism and abuse he persistently suffered throughout his coming of age career against the public, his peers and superiors in the Metropolitan Force and how he ultimately overcame these racially divided lines.
The Funding:
We need your help to tell Norwell's story. As a production team we have access to industry standard equipment free of charge, however there are still the essential costs of a set that need to be raised in order to match the films potential quality which can be viewed below. Two of the biggest costs are costume and actors fee, these are essential for bringing the highest quality of authenticity and drama needed to tell this story. Any money we make over our goal will help us to submit the film to festivals and make a donation to a charity of Norwells choice.

Telling Norwell's story is not only a pleasure but an honour for me. For almost a year I have been working alongside Norwell in developing his story in the best way we can, through this working time I am honoured to call him a good friend and one of my role models in life. Help us to tell his story which desperatley deserves to be told!"

Film and Photograpghy has been my lifes passion ever since I was a child and as a fellow Londoner I feel honoured to help tell the story that should have been told long ago."

Hi, I’m Dan, and I'm the Script Supervisor and Behind The Scenes Photographer working on I AM NORWELL ROBERTS QPM. For me, Norwell’s story is an incredibly humbling one. For me to be in a position to help facilitate it being told in moving image is such an exciting opportunity and far more than just a job.
This project successfully funded on 11th February 2020
