We are facing an unprecedented global emergency

High Court judges have today ruled that last month's police ban on Extinction Rebellion protests was illegal.

The Section 14 ban was imposed on the environmental campaign group following a fortnight of direct action in London in October, but was ruled illegitimate this morning (Wednesday, November 6).

Lawyers representing the protest group claimed the decision was 'hastily imposed and erratically applied'.

Thousands of protestors gathered in capital cities across the world to peacefully occupy spaces and call on Governments to declare a climate and ecological emergency.

XR's 'Autumn Uprising' was a "non-violent civil disobedience activist movement" and relied heavily on funds raised by the crowd.

Now their supporters are fundraising to sue the force for unlawful arrest.

This is an historic win because for the first time we’ve challenged the police on overstepping their powers and we’ve won. It’s great.
