Help us provide hearty, hot meals for homeless members of Crisis Skylight Centre this winter, paid forward by the generosity of others!
The Canvas is a not-for-profit cafe and creative venue in East London. We want to provide hot home-cooked meals for 100s of homeless people this winter, at the Crisis Skylight Centre on Commercial Street.
The Crisis Skylight Centre is a vital resource for homeless people in Tower Hamlets. They offer training courses, housing support and routes into employment, and they are visited by over 100 homeless members every day.
Currently, they have no way of offering hot meals to their members, and as winter draws in, this is a real problem. A hot meal provides nutrition, warmth, comfort and hope in the knowledge that people really do care!
We've a created a 'Hot Meals for the Homeless' campaign, in support of Crisis UK. It's a simple idea; Crisis can host approximately 100 people per day at their site. The Canvas can provide a hearty, healthy and substantial meal (including sides and puddings) for £10 per person.
We're inviting you to 'pay-forward' £10 for a homeless person to receive a hot meal this winter. Every single penny you donate will go towards The Canvas creating a hot feast for someone in need; we'll plan menus based on nutritional value and slow-releasing energy, offering items that can be eaten immediately on site, but also others that can be taken away to eat later. We'll curate dishes that are delicious, hearty and warming, and that are a real treat to eat.
This is a rolling campaign - every time we receive 100 donations, we'll feed 100 people.
