Well, this is a first for us. Though we've never crowdfunded before, it's important to know when to reach out for help and that time is now.
It’s easy to have a growing cynicism for bars and businesses that constantly say the staff are their priority, that they’re all family, etc. If you’ve been to CTC, you’ll know that this is an ideal we’ve lived by - us three directors never pulled ourselves out of service, believing it wouldn't be possible to maintain a sense of equality and understanding within our team if we did.
Since the start, 25% of the profits have gone back to the staff, and our aim has always been to facilitate growth, embracing mutual benefit right through to the endpoint of allowing our team to fully blossom and open their own businesses.
These people are some of the best in their industry, both in terms of professional aptitude and personal integrity, the very thing for which they were hired. And, in their choice to join our crew, they’re now in real danger.
We’ve reduced every overhead we can, and the government is indeed providing a measure of support - today's updates were obviously very welcome, but though the efforts here are valiant, there is a bigger problem out there.
Keeping our team going during this time was our first priority, which is now realistic, thankfully. After, however, there is another battle - ensuring they have a job to come back to. When the British hospitality industry finally gets back up on its feet, a lot of positions will no longer exist - we want to ensure that all of our team can step back into their roles, and for this, we need the company to survive.
If you’re ever been to CTC or Murder Inc. and had a great time, it’s because of them. While we’re all pressed now, if you can spare anything, it will hopefully help us in lasting through this dire time and keep us taking care of them. And we'll 100% make it up to ya.
(Plus, do you really wanna make it through this apocalypse and not be able to tell your stories in a decent bar...?)
