The aim of my project is to raise money so I can afford to go to University and become a Physicians Associate

New stretch target

This will contribute towards the remaining fee of 18,000, money towards a lap top and any books I need and will also help me pay my living costs.

In 2009 I left school and moved from Syria to Ukraine to study medicine, at this point I was hoping to return and work as a doctor in the developing areas of Kurdistan. Unfortunately due to the war that was happening in Syria my family were displaced and I was unable to return home, so I came to Glasgow to seek asylum. In 2016 I received my refugee status and have been living here ever since. Having studied an undergraduate degree in medicine I hoped that I would be able to work as a doctor for the NHS, however, this has not been possible. I am therefore, taking this route to become a Physicians Associate to fulfill my dream of providing health care to people who need it.

A Physicians Associate is a relatively new role to the NHS, this role supports doctors and consultants to carry out clinical examinations, taking histories, developing care plans and in diagnosing. I know that I will make a good Physicians Associate as on top of my skills and experiences, I am passionate about this field and can't see myself doing anything else. The MSc in Physician Associate studies is two years long and costs £18,000, I will receive a post graduate loan of £10,000 to cover part of this fee however it does not make up for any of the living costs. The course is full time and requires a minimum of 30 hours extra study per week. This means it is unlikely that I will be able to work enough to make money for the rest of the fees, my rent, bills and food. I will be applying to many other scholarships and funding bodies to try and cover as much as I can, I will keep you all updated with this.

Your help will really bring great changes to my life and will allow me to pursue my dreams of using my skills to give back to my community.Thank you so much.
