My name is Joanna and I'm organising a Charity Concert in my hometown of Upminster, Essex, UK in aid of a wonderful Children's Choir from Shillong, India called "The Aroha Junior Choir”.
The choir has qualified for the 71st Llangollen International Eisteddfod 2018 (71st International Choral Competition, Llangollen) in Wales, UK and will compete from the 3rd to 8th July this Summer.
As part of their trip to the UK, we are excited to be bringing the Choir to Upminster on Sunday 8th July to perform in a Celebration Concert of unity across all of our communities…something you might agree we need now more than ever.
The Choir have been raising money in their hometown of Shillong, but due to recent violent riots, they were forced to cancel fundraising concerts due to government imposed city curfews that would’ve covered important costs for their trip here.
Many of these children have never left their small town of Shillong in North-East India before, let alone travelled to Europe!, and I'm determined to make it a fantastic and inspiring event for everyone involved.
I’m hoping that I can raise enough money to take the children to see London on their trip of a lifetime!
As you can imagine, the structure and planning for the event is quite large and I have been working on this since January. With the Aroha group being 30 members travelling to Upminster, there are additional costs involved in this concert to make sure everyone is safe and well looked after; not to mention making the concert a huge success for performers and audiences alike.
Thank you for considering a Donation for this fantastic cause, and I hope you might be able to join us on the day for a Marvellous afternoon of Music!
Thank you again! :)
