Help for Elsa the Wonder Cat

Aim

Elsa was found after 14 years missing! Living rough, she now needs extensive medical treatment to live out her twilight years in comfort.

Elsa went missing in 2007 at the age of 2. I was devastated and searched for her for years. But eventually, as time passed, I gave up hope of ever seeing her again. 

Then, on Thursday 25th November 2021 a miracle happened. I received a phone call from a vet 20 miles away. They told me that the RSPCA had found a female cat and taken her to them for emergency care. The vet scanned her and immediately phoned me to tell me they had found my girl who has been missing for FOURTEEN years!!! 

She has been roughing it, living in the grounds of a factory all these years, and thanks to the factory workers who saw her condition deteriorate and contacted the RSPCA; thanks to the RSPCA themselves; thanks to The Park Vet in Glenfield, Leicestershire; and thanks to her microchip, our beautiful Elsa is finally home!

She has returned in poor health, however, and is covered in sores and cysts and one very large open tumour on her side. But she is finally home and she is safe, warm and loved ❤️

However, her insurance was cancelled many years ago as we really didn't think we'd ever see her again. No insurance company will cover her now as she has returned to us in such a poor condition. She requires a lengthy rehabilitation including much medication and surgical treatment to remove the tumour and one or two of her cysts which will impact her daily life. Those that will have no effect on her will be left as the less she can have done at her ripe old age, the better. She also needs further blood work to rule out many diseases which she may have contracted. All of which will be very costly and not something we can easily afford. 

After spending so many years out in the cold, fending for herself, Elsa deserves the best chance to enjoy her twilight years at home with her loving family. I can't bear the thought of the decision that would have to be made because we can't afford the treatment she requires. Please help if you can, it would mean the world to us all.
