Blue Honey Local is sadly going to be leaving 213 City Road in April and in an effort to secure a much-loved community space that also was the home of MILGI, I’ve decided to take the leap from plant shop pop-up to a fully formed business in the shape of Eartha Community Interest Company.

I am trying to raise up to £5,000 to help save this space from closing and avoid the closure of another Cardiff institution and also the potential development of any more unnecessary student flats on City Road.

In an effort to do so all plants here were sold on a pay as you feel basis and I managed to raise a whopping £2,662 from plant sales (Thank you to everyone to everyone who has supported) but there's still more to go! We hope you can support, anything is much appreciated.

Any donations will be rewarded with plants in the future:

Below £15: A small plant in store.

£15 - £40: A medium sized plant in store.

£50 or above: Any large plant in store.

Please read here to see what Eartha Community Interest Company has been set up to do for Cardiff:

Eartha CIC has been formed to continue to supply Cardiff with plants, creating green spaces for locals and promote well-being through engaging with nature. The café, restaurant and bar will now be used to stock, support and promote other local individuals and businesses who are sustainably working with and selling products of the earth, to support the local economy and elevate our amazing network of independents and makers.

local plants

Eartha products will now be further expanding into the outdoor garden to offer a range of herbs and perennials. As part of improving the sustainability of the business, we will be working more closely with Bute Park Nurseries as a stockist as well as The Oaks, a social enterprise and nursery also based in Cardiff. We will also continue to grow and sell plants on a pay as you feel basis to raise money for Refugee Community Kitchen.

local products

A taste of products that will make up the contents of the bar will be sourced from the amazing entrepreneurs currently producing and trading in Cardiff. This will include coffee from Hard Lines, tea from Waterloo tea, beers from Crafty Devil brewery, wines from Wrights and The Bottle Shop and chocolate from Heist Chocolate. Many products will also hopefully be available in a retail capacity.

We are also excited to be working with Cole & Co who will be supplying us with hand washes and room infusers, which will be used in the space and available to take home.

local produce

The talented chef Herbivore, who was previously based in Embassy Café, will be taking over the kitchen here to offer delicious vegan and vegetarian dishes.  We will be sourcing organic, seasonal produce from Welsh farm Blaencamel, Field Days Organic growing project and our salad leaves will come from Cardiff Salad Garden, a social enterprise based in Bute Park.

We will also be working with local bakeries, such as Riverside Sourdough and Friends in Knead, to supply us with tasty baked goods used in our recipes.

local people

From the beginning, it has a been a privilege to work with talented artists and makers who are working with products of the earth in some capacity, to provide sustainable products for the home. This shall remain the case as we continue to work with Jack Welbourne and Simone Potter ceramics, wooden pieces from David Sopswith, illustrations and prints from Sophie Potter, jewellery design from Ameow Designs and products from Prints by Nature.

Thank you / Diolch
