We need to raise £1,000 to purchase a equine weigh bridge in order to effectively monitor the weight of rescued horses and ponies.
HAPPA investigate cruelty and neglect of horses, ponies and donkeys across 18 counties in the UK.
This year alone we have already dealt with hundreds of cases, which has resulted in rescuing equines to ensure their future under the care of the Charity.
Following the intake of three extremely obese ponies, HAPPA Samson, a dapple grey Shetland stallion, HAPPA Sunny, a skewbald Shetland stallion and HAPPA Sol, a dark bay Shetland stallion, the Charity will address the need to monitor weight effectively in Rescue Cases by asking for public support to purchase a weigh bridge.
Just like humans these three ponies will need to have their weight monitored to ensure that they lose weight under a controlled and bespoke plan for a bright and healthy future, and the chance to find a Forever Home.
This doesn’t happen often, but been overweight is actually just as a concern for animal welfare as been underweight. The number of health complications that can arise are the same as in humans, the only difference is it is the owner’s responsibility to ensure their animals don’t get this overweight, it is considered animal cruelty.
A carefully managed and monitored plan will be given to the rescued ponies to ensure that they lose weight.
We owe this to every pony or horse both at the Centre and future Rescue Cases; effective weight measurement using a weigh bridge to either build strength or help lose weight.
We will help give a brighter future and a Second Chance to HAPPA Samson, Sol and Sunny with YOUR HELP.
