We would like to thank everyone who has dined in Haar Restaurant since we opened back in Spring 2019. It has been a tough year for everyone, and we hope that some form of normality will resume this Summer.
Dean and the team have worked tirelessly to ensure Haar Restaurant continues to push the boundaries, and we can’t wait to reopen! And if you would like to be part of our drive to do just that, here’s your chance to help us stay in our home town.
We are crowdfunding to help fund renovations at Haar Restaurant’s new location in St Andrews, which is Haar's home. We work closely with our local suppliers there including the fishermen who we have helped throughout lockdown with our 'At Home' service. We would love to continue to support these fantastic suppliers - from the St Andrews fishermen to our Fife based organic veg suppliers.
Our goal has always been to source the best produce from Fife and showcase the best of what the land and sea has to offer.
Our new premises will offer 12 permanent jobs and try to give back to the community we love so much.
We are one of the top three sustainable restaurants in UK and will of course continue on our path to full sustainability. St Andrews is at the very heart of Haar – our name comes from the haar rolling in over the shore there – so we are doing all we can to ensure we remain in our spiritual and physical home forever.
Why are we leaving the current premises?
The last thing we wanted to do is move Haar Restaurant to new premises. Especially after the past year we have all had. Hospitality has been hit so hard and we can’t wait for this all to be a distant memory.
Unfortunately, due to failing to agree new heads of terms with our landlord, we have had no choice but to find a new home for Haar Restaurant in St Andrews.
Every penny raised from our crowdfund will be spent on the renovation of our new site which we intend will be our permanent home.
Where are we moving to?
We have found our new home in St Andrews; however it needs a substantial makeover. And that’s where you, the Haar family, come in. We are asking for your help – NOT charity, just help.
We’re asking you to pre-purchase Tasting Menus and special experiences at the new Haar - all at a discounted rate - which will help us raise the funds to complete our renovations and keep Haar in St Andrews where we belong.
Think of it as pre-paying for your meal before you dine, getting a discount for doing so, and in the process helping us stay in our beloved St Andrews.
We love being part of the St Andrews food scene and are desperate to stay within the town – now is your chance to be a part of making exactly that happen.
