I have been invited to attend the Women against Violence in Europe conference in Berlin next week. It's a three day event where women from all over Europe come together discuss how we can reduce violence against women and children. I will be representing Birmingham and the UK - along with one other delegate from London - and hopefully will be able to share some of my story through my poetry. I hope to find out what is being done in and around Europe to stop violence against women and children. I'm also going to be telling delegates about Goddesse UK and getting some help to formulate a campaign to Stop Acid Attacks in India. In addition I plan to ask them what we can do to educate boys in schools focusing on positive and negative masculinities for a 2017 Goddesse Education campaign. On the final day we get to visit women's refuges around Berlin to see how Germany runs safe spaces for women and children.
I've never asked for help before. I've been totally self funded over the last 3 years working as a teacher to promote my work and touring my shows. I also self financed my trip to India to talk on a global stage. This time I am asking you for help because I have one week to get the money together. I have bought my plane ticket so I simply need you to believe in me enough to support my hotel costs and my conference fees. If you have enjoyed following my fairytale story over the last 3 years - and there have been more lows than highs - then please support me as I head for recovery. I am not the sort of person to say 'Well I feel better now so I'm ok and that's all that matters.' Now I am feeling better I want to help others out of these violent situations. I really care about acid attacks and women being beaten and raped. I really care about the effect on the children. Now I am feeling better I want to help thousands towards a better life through Goddesse Education. Join me x
