Towards fossil-fuel free food - supporting orchards/commercial forest gardens with fruit trees, technical guides and maintenance grants

by Jenny Hall in Kings Moss, England, United Kingdom

Fruit trees are part of the solution to the Climate Emergency

Starting Spring 2020 Climate Friendly Food CIC intend to run a monthly lottery to enable farmers, growers, landlords and community projects to transform their land into fruit trees and other perennial food where there is a clear market for produce. The initial crowd funder is for £2k to pay for technical materials for farmers & growers e.g. varieties to grow, how to plant on a larger scale and for the gambling licence to operate the lottery for 1 year. Any additional funds raised will go towards the first batch of perennials plants for orchards and commercial forest gardens. The long-term lottery will incentivise fruit tree growing with a maintenance grant to enable land managers to make the transition to perennial crops in the early years when there is no income.

Please note at 25 secs it should say 20% oh the joys of one take!!
