EXTEND Exercise is a small charity to help improve health and wellbeing throughout the UK. We have received a large number of requests from older adults and people with disabilities for adapted exercise classes in their age group. Many have felt isolated and sedentary, due to their disability and have been unable to go out in their community due to COVID 19 restrictions. Some also have had difficulty in using mobile phones and tablets to access exercise classes in their own home.
The COVID -19 pandemic has affected the charity greatly and we need your support to create funding for new fitness teachers to provide wellness and exercise classes for our older community. As we emerge out of lockdown, EXTENDs determination is to increase activity in this age group. We aim to provide specialised classes to incorporate strength and balance exercises to prevent falls and help improve the mental and physical quality of life.
The EXTEND Wellness funding will enable the new learners to gain a nationally accredited Level 2 qualification in chair-based exercise or group exercise for frailer adults and wheelchair users. These classes are designed to improve fitness to clients who have deteriorated with isolation and reduced opportunities to socialise and be more active.
