Support our revival of Penelope Skinner's Eigengrau: a witty urban feminist exploration of youth. Playing at Waterloo East Theatre, Sept '19
Hello! We are an ambitious female-led company of young theatre professionals, raising money to support our production Eigengrau at Waterloo East Theatre, September 2019. This is a fiercely relevant, hilarious, truly orginal play and we cannot wait to bring it to London’s off-West End — but we need your help!
Eigengrau.
Darkness visible.
The colour seen by the eye in perfect darkness.
This is a play about London. About being lost in urban chaos. About a struggle to find meaning in a world of random encounters and connections.
A play about aspiration. About feminism. What does it mean to be a good feminist? What does it mean to be feminist?
Eigengrau is a punchy and insightful exploration of youth.
Directed by Georgie Staight (Chutney, Bunker Theatre; D-Day 75, Watermill Theatre; Roosting, Park Theatre; Into the Numbers, Finborough Theatre).
Starring RADA graduates Isabel Della-Porta (Network, National Theatre; Chutney, Bunker Theatre) and Katie Buchholz (Father Brown, BBC; Eastenders, BBC; If We Were Older, National Theatre).
Modern urban life leaves many feeling isolated, lonely, disconnected and in search of an elusive 'something more'. The political and social climate of today renders many helpless to bring about change, whilst feeling deeply unhappy with the status quo.
Eigengrau is a modern fairytale, exploring how — and whether — we can break out of political learned helplessness and create a better world.
In this historical moment of constitutional crisis, neglect of the needy and backlash against equality, this witty and insightful play could hit London at no better time.
We've secured one of London's trendiest off-West End venues for a two week run in September, and a small but talented team with a track record of creating daring, high quality work. But professional theatre is an expensive endeavour, and we need additional funds to do justice to this challenging play. Money will go towards items such as marketing, set, creative fees and paying fair wages.
We're really grateful for any donations — no matter how big or small — and please consider purchasing one of our fab rewards! Theatre is a conversation and if you have any questions or comments about our production we'd be really happy to hear from you — so please do get in touch via any of our social media channels.
Also if you like what we're doing, do consider sharing it over email, social media, etc, as we need as much traction as possible to reach our target.
Finally, please come to the play! We run 10th-22nd September at Waterloo East Theatre, Brad Street, London SE1 8TN (just 5 minutes walk from Waterloo station!). Tickets go on sale week commencing 8th July at https://www.waterlooeast.co.uk and 020 7928 0060.
