As lockdown continues, local groups across Durham and Darlington have shown huge resilience. They are delivering food, making PPE, manning advice lines, supporting people with mental health problems and helping discharged patients leave hospital safely.
These groups, who make all the difference to the most vulnerable people in our communities, now need our help and your help to survive.
Groups like:
- Handcrafted and Re-f-use in Chester-le-Street, who are supporting 150 households with fresh food and moral support
- TCR Hub in Barnard Castle, who are delivering food hampers in the dale to families living with cancer
- UTC South Durham, a college in Newton Aycliffe, making PPE for key workers
So please keep giving!
Our groups are going to need us for the long haul. More than 50% of groups who've applied for emergency funding have less than three months' worth of reserves in the bank. Yet they are carrying out life-saving work in our communities.
Please get in touch with us on [email protected] if you would like to understand better who we are and how we are trying to help our communities at this challenging time.
*With special thanks to the National Emergencies Trust appeal, which has awarded us more than £400,000 to give out to local groups.
