CYMERA: Scotland's Festival of Science-Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Writing
7th to 9th June 2019, The Pleasance, Edinburgh
Today more than ever, we are looking for places to meet like-minded people, have fun and escape the day-to-day. We need places of debate and discussion, where we are challenged and discover new things, where we can make real connections and share our ideas.
CYMERA aims to create such a place for everyone who enjoys science fiction, fantasy and horror writing to come together. Our festival hopes to inspire you, bring people together and provide exciting and fun opportunities for those involved in the genre.
We can't make this happen without your support!
Your donation, however big or small, will help us

The brainchild of a merry band of genre readers and writers and book festival enthusiasts, CYMERA wants to bring together readers and writers to celebrate Science-Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Writing, with the added fun of a convention. Thus CYMERA book festival was born, with a curated programme of talks, debates and writing workshops. We will also be holding a quiz night where you can test your genre knowledge, open mics, a creator's hall, an evening cabaret courtesy of Event Horizon and a cosplay ceilidh. Yes, you read that right.
Our venue is The Pleasance, 60 Pleasance, Edinburgh, EH8 9TJ, with fully wheelchair accessible spaces, lots of room, an on-site bar and café. The venue is within walking distance from Edinburgh's main train station and there are plenty of bus links.
We will be announcing our programme at the end of February 2019, and tickets will be available from our website from 1st March 2019. Put it in your diary now!
