To raise enough money to complete and furnish our tea room so we can provide a place for members of the community to meet and relax.
Crumpton Hill Farm Shop opened in October 2014 following the closure of the cider shop which had previously been there. Husband and wife, Jim and Mandy felt the village which they'd lived in for over 30 years, needed somewhere to bring the community of the three parishes together where they could get fresh, locally produced food and drink at an affordable price without having to travel for miles to get it.
The shop has gone from strength to strength over the last 3 and a half years. The shop was originally open just Thursday to Sunday, but, due to demand, they extended their opening hours in December 2016 to open everyday of the week. Jim and Mandy were also joined by their daughter Becky who originally worked part time. Now, Becky works fulll time alongside Mandy during the week. The shop is very much a family affair with Jim and Mandy’s son, Tom, his fiancée, Jade and Becky’s husband Phill, also helping during busy times.

We would like to introduce a tea room to the farm shop as we feel the location of the shop is perfect for one. The shop is a stone's throw away from the popular long distance footpath of the Worcestershire Way and is set in the apple orchards where the apples are grown for the popular Malvern Gold and Malvern Oak ciders. The iconic Malvern Hills can also be seen in the distance.

We believe that having a tea room would benefit the community of Storridge, Mathon and Cradley as there are currently few places to sit and enjoy a freshly brewed cup of tea or cup of locally roasted coffee. We would be able to provide a warm, inviting atmosphere where members of all ages of the community can come and sit and either meet with friends or family or simply sit and enjoy the coming and going of customers. We'd also like to encourage families and friends to come and enjoy the tea room and it's environment. If we can raise enough money, we would really like to purchase some play equipment for the children to use as Storridge currently doesn't have anywhere for children to play.
Our tea room will use, where possible, only items we sell in the shop. We currently stock locally roasted coffee, freshly baked bread, locally grown salad, locally made cheese and butter and locally milled flour. We would only offer high quality, locally produced food and drink. Our main aim is to maintain low food miles by only using local suppliers as we currently do. Our cakes and sandwiches will be homemade which reduces food miles, the plastic required to wrap them and ensures quality.
We would also like to become a licensed tea room so that our amazing range of locally made ciders and wines can be enjoyed during a sunny afternoon and the beers can be enjoyed on those cooler autumnal days.

Eventually, Mandy will be making the cakes for the tea room. She has over 30 years of experience of home baking and has always cooked for her family. Becky and Tom grew up with homemade birthday cakes and there were always baked treats in the tin when they got home from school. We feel Mandy will make the most delicious cakes for the tea room using her vast experience and the quality ingredients we are lucky to be able to access.

Those that have been in the shop in the last couple of months will know that in July 2017, we altered the shop so we could make a start on the tea room and created access for wheelchairs and pushchairs around the shop. We have started the kitchen, but due to various issues we’ve encountered, it has sadly come to a halt, and we now need help in order to complete it. Following a good summer, we were then hit very badly by the main Hereford to Worcester road (A4103) being closed for 8 weeks, and then the Cowleigh road (B4219) for 3 and a half weeks. We’ve also had disruptions to our trade due to a couple of periods of heavy snow throughout the winter.

We have started this project in the hope that we can raise enough money to finish the kitchen; purchasing the all-important oven and the espresso machine, finishing off the walls and floors so that they comply with the requirements of the Council, but the money will also help us to furnish the tea room and the patio outside so customers can relax in comfort whilst enjoying their food and drink.
We really hope that after reading this you would like to support us with our project!
